Owning more than 100 pairs in his vast personal collection, Dylan
Bednarz is an avid shoe collector who had his fair share of problems
with limited storage space. Ideally, you build a huge closet and that’s
that. But that will probably require a considerable amount of money, and
even if money isn’t a problem, there is no guarantee that you have the
ideal building for something like that. There are some very spacious
homes out there that still lack the ideal design, as size is not the
only factor to consider here. Luckily, there are alternative solutions
that could help you out.
Ditch the Cardboard Boxes, But…
Keeping the shoes’ original boxes is not a good idea. There are two problems: durability and accessibility. The cardboard boxes your shoes come in are not be very durable. They use cheap cardboards most of the time. The other problem is accessibility. When you start to stack up the boxes, you are not able to access all of them easily. Alternate solution: buying more durable cardboard boxes. There are also practical closets available, sometimes made out of quality plastic, much cheaper than wood.
Cleaning Them is Key
If you are one of those collectors who like to enjoy their sneakers, wearing different ones every single day, your shoes can become messy in time. Leaving them in that condition and putting them back is a very bad idea. The longer the stains stay on a shoe, the harder they will be to clean.
Dylan Bednarz is an avid sneaker collector who religiously cleans his shoes before putting them back.
