Dylan Bednarz - Handy Staff Training Tips

Before he took on the role of Shift Supervisor at Panera Bread, Dylan Bednarz worked as an Associate Trainer and was responsible for training new employees so that they would have a better understanding of the company and level of work that was expected of them. Staff training can be difficult at the best of times, so consider all of these tips if you find yourself in a similar position.

Use Your Experiences

A lot of what you show to a new employee may be difficult to relate to at first, especially if the person is entirely new to the world of work. As such, whenever you make an important point to your trainee you should attempt to link it to a real-world situation that you have found yourself in at some point in your career. This will further demonstrate the importance of the point and make it relatable.

Training Never Stops

If you are in a position to train new employees, it is likely that you are either working in a management position or are looking to receive one. As such, you need to understand that training never stops for new employees and you should constantly look for ways to improve the service they provide. If you notice a mistake being made, pull them aside to explain it so they learn not to do it again.

Show Enthusiasm

Dylan Bednarz notes that employees who are trained by people who show a lack of enthusiasm for the subject matter are likely going to demonstrate that same level of enthusiasm when they start working, so be positive from the off.
